The news of Michael Jackson's death is very shocking and unexpected. I think I speak for the world when I say that. If you think about it, Michael did change the world of music, several albums, and with only one music video, so it seems. MTV never played black artist's music videos never before Thriller. He was very inspiring and indeed the King of Pop.
I got the news from a very asian friend of mine while watching the new Transformers movie. If it weren't for him spreading the news to me, I would have been very confused why every radio station was bumpin' MJ's beats. Anyway, I get home and onto Facebook (Story of my life!). I see that everyone's status is something along the lines of "RIP Michael Jackson", "RIP King of POP", "One less child molester we have to worry about", statuses like that.
Current Even Check: Huge riots in Iran and the innocent Iranian people are being beaten and shot to death or maybe executed as we speak only because they want to free their country from oppression and want democracy. And this has been going on ever since the beginning of June.
This whole situation reminds me of the Joker's speech near the end of The Dark Knight.
"Nobody panics when the expected people get killed. Nobody panics when things go according to plan, even if the plans are horrifying. If I tell the press that tomorrow a gangbanger will get shot, or a truckload of soldiers will get blown up, nobody panics. But when I say one little old mayor will die, everyone loses their minds!"
Human nature: we love order, we love to know what ahead of us. It's normal, but the problem with that is, we're so safe and so calm with our plans that if one thing comes to maybe even getting in the way we lose it.
